The United Nations and foreign governments called on Myanmar to allow in aid workers as more rain was forecast for the stricken country. The UN's World Food Program sent three planeloads of high- energy biscuits to Myanmar, with another en route to help feed survivors of the May 3 cyclone, said Marcus Prior, a spokesman for the UN agency in Bangkok. WFP hasn't been able to send staff to oversee aid distribution. The agency has 16 visa applications pending, with only one accepted so far, he said.
The Meyer Amphitheater, downtown West Palm Beach. on the picturesque Flagler waterfront will be the venue of the well-anticipated, fun-filled 5th Annual Summer Sizzle Jerk and Caribbean Culture Festival. With a cultivated expertise and passion for entertainment, the Full-A-Vibes committee has set plans in motion to produce one of the biggest, well-attended cultural events of the year. The stage at the Meyer Amphitheatre will permeate an infectious groove of music that will showcase the talents of some of the Caribbean’s leading musical luminaries such as the electrifying Fab 5 Reggae/Soca band, the legendary reggae artiste Frankie Paul and the lyrically dexterous Professor Nuts. In addition, there will be performances from Folk groups and a number of popular local acts who will display their talents through song and traditional dance.
There's yet another comparison to the pre-Passion hype: While critics accused director Mel Gibson and his film of anti-Semitism, the filmmakers behind Expelled—and movie host Ben Stein, who is Jewish—argue that Darwin and evolutionist theory paved the way for Hitler and the Holocaust (but Scientific American begs to differ). Perhaps it's no coincidence that Motive Marketing, which is spearheading publicity for Expelled, was also in charge of PR for The Passion.
